Can vitalistic beliefs affect birth outcomes?

The understanding of the complexity of PGP during pregnancy and its multifactorial nature and specifically the affect of pain on birth outcome is not entirely understood.

Musculoskeletal symptoms like lower back and pelvic pain are known to affect maternal functioning and well-being during pregnancy. They can persist postnatally and may influence birth outcomes such as the mode of birth, duration of labour, and pain experience. This implies that addressing and managing these symptoms can be crucial for both the health of the mother and baby.

This presentation aims to discuss vitalistic beliefs, how women perceive pelvic girdle pain during pregnancy and the affect these factors may have on birth choices thus birth outcomes.

A summary of pelvic anatomy, pain affects in the brain and strategies during pregnancy to build confidence in women’s ability to birth will be covered.
